The stock market indices had another up day and closed the week out on the plus side. The day started out, however, with some choppiness and some testing.

Perhaps scared money is beginning to flow out of gold and back into equities and industrial commodities in anticipation of improvement in the U.S. and global economies.

For a market to repair itself after a massive selloff, an extended period of low volatility is generally required. The longer that volatility is present, the more likely the market will remain under downward pressure.

The stock market indices had a tremendous rally today, and if it hadn’t been for the last 15 minute sell-off, it would have been a monstrous day. As it was, it was huge,but they did take back some of the big gains on late profit-taking.

The real problem is debt. It’s been building up for more than half a century – thanks to encouragement from the same officialdom in whose hands the problem now rests.
