In terms of price action this coming week, Toni Hansen sees the market as slightly bullish on the 30-minute time frame, but notes that this can easily just create a longer congestion zone on the 60-minute time frame before the market breaks lower.

The Dow rose a bit yesterday. The dollar went up too. Commodities hit a new all-time high. Gold rose. From an inflationary point of view, these are all positive signs. The feds are desperately afraid prices will fall. They’re doing all they can to keep the party going.

Upcoming UK data in line with expectations will highlight the issue of weak growth and strong inflation that the BOE faces.

Over the past few months, Canadian economic data has generally surprised to the upside – with the exception of last month – which has proven to be bullish for the Canadian dollar.

Although Toni Hansen feels that the market is less likely to experience downside trend days into the weekend, the market bias is still favoring the bears.
