Around the Horn: Stocks to Watch for February 2

American Standard (ASD) made a Baltimore Chop move higher on Thursday, providing an entry, and unfortunately a quick scratch stop. On Friday, we will be looking for an Infield Fly move lower. Potential entries are a few ticks below the Thursday close or under the Thursday low. If we enter on the closing violation, we will look to set a stop just above early resistance or on signs of a positive move on the session.

We will also watch for a continuation move in the Fast Ball left by Black & Decker Corp (BDK). We will look for a confirmation of a breakout $0.10 - $0.15 above the Thursday high on good volume and a balanced OpenBook.

Bunge Ltd (BG) made a Fast Ball move to new highs on Thursday and will be on our list as a potential Sinker candidate Friday. We will look for a move toward or through 79.95 that reverses to initiate a short position. BG is not a Regulation SHO Threshold security, so an uptick is required to short the stock.

Entergy Corp (ETR) is also a Sinker candidate with the same entry criteria. Julie and I will look for a move above the Thursday high that reverses and triggers a short position with a tight stop. ETR is a Regulation SHO security and can be shorted without an uptick.

Starwood Hotels (HOT) made a multiple-signal move above recent resistance, leaving a Line Drive / Fast Ball setup for Friday. I will be most interested in this one if it opens slightly lower and then trades up through the Thursday high, with a stop just under late Thursday’s 5-minute range support.

Pentair (PNR) left an Infield Fly at the 50-period Simple Moving Average. We will look for early weakness prior to establishing a short position. PNR is a Regulation SHO security.
