Around the Horn: Stocks to Watch for September 19

On Monday, the Insurance Index (IUX.X) continued basing at its recent highs, and Allstate Corp (ALL) managed to put in a Fast Ball outside day on heavy volume. The stock was gapped down and began to rally immediately, with several tradeable moves over the course of the session. We will watch the stock and the sector again on Tuesday for signs of a move.

Affiliated Managers Group returned to normal volume levels on Monday and had Double Header move lower. On Tuesday, I will watch for a move below the Monday low as a short sale trigger.

Precision Castparts Co. has given investors a rocky ride over the past several months, but after a month-long pullback, the stock had a Fast Ball range expansion on heavy volume and looks strong going into the Tuesday session.

Precision Castparts Co.

Specialty retailer Tiffany & Company (TIF) started a Double Header retracement on Monday as the retail index (RLX.X) showed signs of stalling its sharp upward move. We will watch the stock and the sector on Tuesday for signs of a continuation.

Tiffany & Company

Vimpel-Communications (VIP) left an all-time-high Infield Fly on Monday and will be on our radar as a short sale setup throughout Tuesday trading. This stock is an ADR (American Deposit Receipt), so volume and liquidity can be erratic.
