Around the Horn: Stocks to Watch for January 22

The Tuesday open currently is shaping up to be a disaster. While I do expect the futures markets to stabilize overnight, a collapse on the open is definitely a possibility. If that happens, many of the stocks I watch will probably gap, making for difficult trading. Experienced traders should watch for pullbacks in the direction of the gap for potential entries. Otherwise, ignoring the setups and waiting for Wednesday may be the better trade.

Arch Coal, Inc. (ACI) will be on the short list once again, as the stock left a Backdoor Slider on Friday, and looks ready for additional downside.

Kinetic Concepts Inc (KCI) is a Switch Hitter setup that will likely roll over if the market sinks in the morning. A break below 49.44 will signal a potential short-side entry.

Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS) is a Backdoor Slider setup and a move below the Thursday – Friday lows will have us watching for broader weakness and a potential entry opportunity.
