Around the Horn: Stocks to Watch for February 8

Trading continues to be choppy, and we will keep stops tight and look for confirmation in the form of OpenBook pressure prior to entering any positions on Thursday. We will continue to tighten our focus to a few sectors until the market presents more tradeable entry opportunities.

In consumer goods, Autoliv (ALV) is an interesting Fast Ball short candidate below the low of the Wednesday bar. The stock broke the 50-period simple moving average on heavy volume and looks to have additional downside below 59.20.

In industrial goods, Black & Decker (BDK) is a Switch Hitter and will be on our watch list for an entry on trade above 88.90.

In the REITs, Developers Diversified Realty (DDR), Duke Realty Corp (DRE), Kimco Realty Corp (KIM), United Dominion Realty (UDR) and Weingarten Realty (WRI) all made strong Fast Ball moves on solid volume into the close. We will be watching these stocks for tradeable entries, primarily on ratio pullbacks.

And finally, although the energies are providing some very erratic trade in the current market, we will be watching for an extension of the Fast Ball in Sempra Energy (SRE). If the energy stocks continue their choppy trading early in the session, we will ignore this one for the day.

Autoliv Inc

Black & Decker

Developers Diversified Realty

Duke Realty Corp

Kimco Realty Corp

United Dominion Realty

Weingarten Realty

Sempra Energy
