The new homes number comes out Thursday, and should mean volatility for some of the builders. We are going to keep a close eye on the sector (HGX.X) as well as on Beazer Homes (BZH), and Ryland (RYL). Both stocks had low level Fast Ball moves on good volume Wednesday, and both stand to make some tradeable moves intraday Thursday.
Gas utility player Energen Corp (EGN) reported 56 cents vs. consensus of 49 cents and guided 2006 EPS to $3.10-$3.30 vs. estimates of $3.07 and made a Fast Ball move into the close. We will have EGN on the continuation radar Thursday.
Finally, Boeing’s earnings announcement Wednesday left the Aerospace/Defense stocks in a nose dive that has the stage set for additional downward momentum Thursday. We will be watching Raytheon Co. for an extension of the Fast Ball expansion it left on the daily chart with an initial target target around 48.80.
